All Ages When Did You Discover You Loved Art

Answering some of these threads made me think about this question... When did I discover I truly loved art? Although I've always been creative, my love for art began in college. I started college as a biology major because I wanted to go to dental school. But after a semester, I was no longer passionate about it. I wasn't the student that always talked about dental school and subjects along the lines of medicine.

During that time I loved film/TV and acting and wanted to really get into the process. So I switched my major to mass communications with a film/TV minor. I fell in love with all things social media related. Began studying film and television -- and now I teach it!

Ever since I was in Fourth Grade, I think. I got amazed by this classmate I got who could draw quality-level manga (Japanese comics) at such a young age. This actually got me started into looking into games and cartoons and anything with fancy images, and got me into drawing.

This eventually led me to writing (because my drawings started to have stories I couldn't contain in an image anymore), and everything led me here.

Yes I agree! I think most will catch their love for art and note that their a little more different and creative at a young age. It's a natural thing to possess and I consider us the lucky ones:)

When I was in high school I take art classes for three years. One year of art was a prerequisite for graduating, and I'm so glad for that. I learned that I have a profound interest in art, and not only did I have a wonderful time during those three years, I now continue and practice almost every day. Playing relaxing music and drawing whatever comes to my head really takes my mind away from a troubling day. It's a very beautiful process. :)

For me, it was my freshman year of high school when I saw my high-school's top jazz band put on a production of a 1940's jazz club. I was simply in awe the whole night of just how much fun they were having on stage. I already played saxophone for a few years before that night, but I wasn't really committed to become a better musician. That night I just knew i had to play in that production and that's when I became committed to music.

Literature and video games were two major things that me realize I had a passion for art. Once I finished reading Mikhail Bulgakov's - The Master and Margarita something has awoken in me that me appreciate the skill some have in creating feelings in other people. Next, video games. I was playing Zelda, The Ocarina of Time and while doing so I was constantly in awe and amazed of what people can create. Since then, one of my life dreams is to become incredibly good at my trade and create something of similar caliber. And to achieve this, I'm constantly educating myself.

I've loved art ever since I can remember. I don't remember discovering that I love art, I've just always done some type of painting or abstract drawing or coloring, or photography ever since I was a young child. Art can make life all the more beautiful.

I discovered that I love art at a very young age. Maybe at 4 or 5 years old. My Mom really encouraged creativity luckily for me. I was home schooled until I was in 8th grade. I remember having an entire closet dedicated just to art. Now that I am older I highly value my creativity.

I started writing when I was in grade school. At first it was journalism, and then I went on to creative writing. Then during high school, I started drawing and a bit of photography. Now, I cannot live my life without writing or doing something creative. It adds color to my life and it is a good stress reliever.

Honestly, I am not really good in arts: drawing, sketching, painting, etc. However, I have such huge appreciation towards arts. I am a big fan of Vincent van Gogh, Davinci, and Cezanne.

My journey of self discovery in art started in my final year in primary school. I vividly remember creating special effects on my exercise book using a pencil. I drew African village sceneries which were very captivating. However, my dalliance with art was short lived since I had to concentrate on my final exams.

I think I fell in love with art when I was still very young. Back then, my mom would buy me comic books. I started drawing the characters I saw in the comic books and since then, the rest was history. But that was the first time I got engrossed with art simply because the drawings captured my attention. I tried copying them first and then moved on to drawing my own characters. Until now, I enjoy reading comic books especially Japanese ones.

I really can't remember a time that I didn't. I think it's something that is inside of us and for some ti might take longer to manifest then it does for others.

Well it had to have been in school, so that is why I am very dedicated to supporting the arts in schools. I just cannot remember which of my many fine art teachers it really was who made me "discover" that I love it. Whoever it was, though, they certainly left a lasting impression because I still credit my teachers with most of what I know and where I have gone, so for that I thank them, and all teachers out there who inspire students.

I'm not really someone who can be considered as an artist but I have come to appreciate and love art when I was still in my toddler years. Thanks to my mom who taught me who have introduced the concept of art to me. She would always draw things and I would color them in return. Although our drawings were just the simple ones but they were full of fun and imagination. Now I'm also doing the same to my kid, teaching him simple and fun stuff that he could appreciate and bring with him until he grows up. I even noticed that he is more art inclined than I was when I was his age. :)

I can't even remember when I didn't love art. I think my love for art developed as a way of connecting with my father. He is an artist and ever since I could hold a pencil I would sit next to him to draw, color, etc. And I think it was a self-esteem booster and my time to shine when I was in school because otherwise I was just another quiet introverted kid. I went on to study design. I need to start painting and sculpting again!
