All Ages What part of the human body is hard to draw?

I love drawing. I especially like doing anime and cartoons. But there are some parts that I certainly find hard to draw. I think the hardest is drawing the hands/fingers of a certain character. For instance, I like a character to show a thumbs up or a thumbs down or a peace sign. It's hard. Fortunately, I don't have to draw toes very often because characters have shoes. :D

What part of the human body do you find hard to draw?

I would definitely have to agree with you. As an artist, I find myself struggling the most with the hands and fingers of a character. I often require a friend to model for me in order to get it right.
Also, the arms are a little tough anatomy-wise. I'm okay with legs -- but for some reason, my arms always end up being too long or two short!

Lol. Not really. I think souls could easily be drawn. Like this:

Ghosts are souls right? Haha!

Same here. I sometimes can't seem to get my proportions right. :(

Hands are notoriously difficult to draw, as has been mentioned. I'd also volunteer "the other eye" as another annoying thing to draw, which always seems disproportionately large/small/circular/not-circular-enough compared to the perfect one you drew first. I suppose that's why a lot of artists are more comfortable drawing busts then full-body characters.

I think that all parts of the body are hard to draw. I do more abstract drawing, and any body parts that I draw probably look like a 5 year old drew it.

The hands have always given me a lot of trouble. It is one of the parts that is really difficult for me to finish. Aside from that, trying to make both sides of the face look equal and avoid making it disfigured. Have you even tried drawing the other eye when you have finished the first one. Trying to make them both match is a challenge.

Faces are painfully difficult to master, because no face is the same. From the slope of the nose and angle of the lips to the curve of the forehead and rise of the eyebrows, all of those features are notoriously hard to finish.

Even if faces are hard to draw, they're one of the most enjoyable to do. I don't mind drawing faces the whole day. They can be beautiful or ugly. But will you enjoy drawing limbs the whole day? I don't think so.

Hands and fingers are definitely difficult when drawing animated characters. If you are drawing from your imagination there is actually a lot of thought that goes into deciding what you even want their hands to look like. However, when drawing realistic human figures I believe it is the eyes that are hard to get just right. The eyes can dictate a large part of the message behind the drawing.

I find drawing the hands and fingers a bit hard than other body parts. I think it has to do with the fact that the hands have to be drawn to conform to the general stance of the body. The fingers are also tricky to draw since each is unique and everything you draw has to be proportional to the rest of the body.

For me, I have several parts of the body which I find hard to draw. These are:
  • The hands. Ugh, I find this part terribly hard to draw. And even if I do draw them, they're kind of disfigured and disproportional. Haha.
  • The hair. I don't know why, but sometimes, especially with males, I find them hard to draw a nice style of hair. Lol.
  • The feet. Fortunately, I can just draw shoes or maybe hide the feet in some way.;p

I think the human body, after a lot of practice, isn't that hard to draw - every inch of it. However, if you want to give it more fluidity and facial expressions, this where you need to exert more effort and improve your drawing skills. A bending human body or one doing yoga, for instance, can be so difficult to draw. A smirking expression is especially difficult to capture too.

For me, it has always been getting both eyes the same! One is always lopsided or smaller or what have you. It always irks me that my pictures have one gorgeous eye then a burning hole for the other from all my erasure marks.
Noses are rather vexing for me as well. If I want to draw a realistic face, the nostrils never look even to me!

I have to mention that when you are doing a portrait I find it super-difficult to capture the essence of a person (if that even makes sense). I've only drawn people I know so for example if they are really smiley happy people I try to put that in the portrait. The little things you notice in person (wrinkles, cute pink cheeks, little freckles or a birthmark, etc.) and that come to mind when you think of that friend or family member. But like someone said before, it gets easier with practice!

I tend to always draw very detailed figures of the body. I find it super hard to draw the arms in detail, I'm a very athletic person and I have detail in my arms that I've tried to dra, but it doesn't ever come out well. Even from imagination I can't seem to get the Biceps, and Triceps to look stunning on paper.

I would without a doubt say that hands/feet including fingers and toes are so hard for me! I can do every other body part, perfectly, but I always save the hands and feet for last because I know it will take me forever to get it right. It has to be perfect too, or else I can't leave that piece alone.
