No junk food and soda in school canteen

There is a hot issue in some private schools particularly the elite and high standard schools. They want to ban soda and junk food in their canteen. In fact, some have already banned the selling of such food items for the reason of the health of students. But the counter reason is that there should be democracy and freedom to choose what to eat. I don't think it is a good idea to dictate on the students what to eat and what not to eat. What is your take on this issue?

For me banning those junk foods and sodas would be beneficial for the students health. Sell Juices rather than Sodas, Sell sandwiches rather than junk foods. We could guide them what is the healthier way to eat and could help their mind to improve. It was not about taking out their freedom about what they want to eat instead we are still helping them to be healthy.

These two have really destroyed our students. They have ruined their appetite and have no nutritional value. It so happens that soda contains too much sugar. They should be banned in the school canteen.

Yeah, I think that school shouldn't interfere into private life of students. I used to think schools forbid certain foods because they don't want to have a messy classroom, but now I understand it's because they want to dictate their own rules. I will not tolerate it.

In my opinion, this is a good rule and should be implemented in all schools. As we all know, some kids abuse their freedom in school by eating only unhealthy food. This apparently ruins their appetite when they go home. We all know the effects of unhealthy junk food. Not only do too much sweets affect blood sugar and body weight, but too much salty snacks can severely affect the kidneys. Years ago, kidney diseases and diabetes were a bit rare in children. But these days, there's a number of children who are already suffering from this.

We are so blessed to have that policy now in the schools. We can see that children will seek more nutritious food for their snack. This policy will lead to healthier students in the future. I agree that the government together with school administrators address this issue to help the students become aware of what they eat.

No junk food and soda in school canteen: I will agree on this instead of soda I prefer to suggest fruit juices, milk, choco for drinks and biscuits, sandwhiches, fruits, pastas, bread instead of junk food. The healthy of the children is important also for them while schooling so as possible as we can minimize them intaking unhealthy foods we must do our part as a parents, guardian and teachers.

It is a good idea to ban the selling of sodas and junk food in schools. We are aware that good nutrition is one of the primary reasons for good performance of students in school, so we have to offer them healthy and nutritious food in order to achieve the best health possible.

I think it would be recommended to offer healthy food in the school's canteens. This way the students can follow a healthy lifestyle which could set them on a lifelong road of healthy living. The students due to healthy eating habit could perform better in school as well. There are many benefits of a healthy eating, as they can improve the well-being of the learners. After the classes the students can make separate food choices and buy whatever type of food their heart desires.

Banning unhealthy foods and drinks is a great move for the school. This shows that they are greatly concerned about the health of their students. Students should see this as a precautionary measure done by the school to ensure that they get to eat only healthy foods and drink healthy beverages.

I think that junk foods and soda should now be ban to some canteen whether it is a private or public school because it is putting at risks the health of students. When I was still studying I noticed that some teachers are selling junk foods and soda to some canteen which most of the time are the cause of some health problems of there students. They are really after the money that they will gain rather than the health of their students. It is really sad to say that instead that some teacher will be one to protect the students and teach them to eat some nutritious food then sometimes they are the main reasons why students buy those prohibited foods.

Junk foods and soda are not good for the children. I think the canteens should already ban it and replace it with healthy foods so that they can help the children to have a healthy lifestyle.

Yes I agree with you, that would be a good idea so that our children would become more fit and healthier, I think that school canteen should take it seriously as parents are expecting a lot from them especially the health and wellness of their beloved children.

I agree with the idea of banning junk foods and soft drink in school canteens. This ensures that children will eat healthy foods when they are at school and will receive the necessary nutrients that they need. This also goes to show that the school is also concerned with their students' wellness, apart from their learning.

I agree with this . Most kids already consume significant amounts of junk foods outside school. If junk food is available in school, it's likely that children will buy it mostly.

Banning junk food and soda is a very good move. It is for a good cause, the health of every student in school. One of the goals of every school is to promote proper nutrition. Junk food and soda are unhealthy and has no nutritive value which if consumed in large amount may lead to diabetes, obesity and other health problem. For me, it is not dictating. It is mainly offering only what is best and nutritious to the students which is beneficial for them in the long run.

I would support this ban. Healthy eating should start in the family and in the classrooms. I think it would be an effective way to promote a healthy diet and encourage the students to live a healthier lifestyle.

I would not support this ban, I'm not a health conscious too and for me junk foods and sodas should be allowed, for me it doesn't do harm especially the ones that are consuming it are young. When I was in school (Elem, High school and College) I always eat junk foods and sodas, it tastes good and only paranoids think it can do harm than good.

The ban is reasonable. While the autonomy of choice is ideal, there are certain situations where adults can step in. One of these instances is when the health of children is at risk. Soda and chips have nearly no nutritional value, and are addictive thanks to the amount of sugar and flavorings present in them. To have them as an option in canteens would send the wrong message, and if there's no control as to how much of said chips and soda children can purchase in a week, it's highly possible that children end up buying nothing but chips.

They're better off eating sandwiches or hot meals, and drinking fresh fruit juice and water instead of soda.
