No - assignment policy for students

The Department of Education of the Philippines issued a memo related to No -Weekend Assignment Policy in public schools in order for the pupils / students to have quality time for themselves and their families. Some private schools implemented the same policy but teachers cannot avoid giving assignments and take-home projects . As a teacher , I have witnessed students burst into tears over numerous assignments and I believe these tasks contribute to mental and emotional stress of students. What is your take on this policy ? Should assignment not be given during weekends or not be given at all ?
 
I am agree to the policy no assignment to the students during weekends because it is really true that children also need to enjoy their life and has a free time together with their parent. Bonding of the family is one thing that can make the family more strong and happy so for me, no assignment during weekends is good for both students ang family as well.
 
I think the weekend is the best day to make assignments or projects. Because there is no need to hassle or panic for the deadline and two days of the weekend is enough to have a good answer or good presentation for your project.
