HOW TO MAKE OUT THAT THE KID KNOWS HIS STUDIES?

These days most of the kids have become very smart. They pretend to be so innocent but the reality lies far behind.

One of the greatest challenge I face is when making my kid study. There are times when he will recognize each and every alphabet and number correctly but there are also times when he will not at all give even a single correct answer.

I cannot make out whether he is pretending or is seriously unable to recognize them. This makes me real upset. He is going to be 3 years old this April and I think he is big enough for recognition.

Do you think it is a matter of big concern that needs immediate action?

No. I wouldn't worry. Kids that young have shorter interest span. When they master sometging they loose interest in it and keep looking for something else to do mentally. So, many times they express as either "I know it all" or "I don't know what you are talking about."

I wouldn't really worry as when the child starts nursery school you will be suprised how brilliant he is. Let them enjoy their first three years of life without formal education.

It would be very difficult for a 4-year old kid to make her study or learn a lesson as what had mentioned due to short span of interest. And that is very correct. It is what our kinder kid is manifesting. She is under our care for her father is working and her mother is working abroad. So, her grandma, my wife is the one taking care of her especially her studies. It is very difficult for her to memorize a line of a verse from the Bible which one of the requirements on their quarterly test. She couldn't be held or compelled to recite it by herself for she wouldn't pay attention. But my wife, an education graduate devised a practical method of teaching her. While she is taking a bath, she secretly listens to my wife who keeps on memorizing the verse vocally. While she is eating, dressing up or watching a TV, she overhears her grandma reciting the verse. And during the exam period, our granddaughter made it.

Even i try this tactic many times and it helps him learn as well. But ata times he is completely blank and that is the point when I'm badly upset.

Have patience. Remember not all days are Sundays. Four years is just too early to start pressuring. Besides, it suffices to know that the child gets concepts clear rather than being always a topper in my opinion.

I think that your kid is too small to recognize the alphabets. My daughter is 3.5 years and she has just now started recognizing the alphabets and learning the rhymes. I never pressurize my children to study. They are too small for that. My son is going to be 5 and just passed out nursery. He would only do his homework and no extra studies. Yet he did very well in his class. Never pressurize the children, they will tend to lose their interest in studies if we pressurize that at such an early age. Later on they will have to study hard, because the curriculum is so tough.

I know what you are saying is correct. But here in North India the study protocol is really different. The school curriculum is very strict and we parents have to follow them. They put emphasis on recognition and writing from a very early age.
