Heavy school bag

The school administrators in high school are now seeing the reality of the students carrying heavy bags. Some high schools are changing their policy with the method of reading the physical books and are now shifting to softcopy versions so that the students need not bring the heavy books every day. This makes me wonder why the educational system for grade school and high school were using that method of making the students bring the heavy books every day.

When I was in school, I had to carry at least 8 textbooks and 8 note books every day. We has 8 classes of 40 minutes each and we were supposed to carry 8 textbooks and 8 notebooks for 8 classes. Sometimes when the teachers did not see us with our own textbook we were sent outside the class. I still do not know why teachers were doing such things in those days.

Our school doesn't encourage students to carry their textbooks from school to their house and vice versa. We have a bookshelf for students and we encourage them to leave it on a regular basis. But, when exams are nearing, the students themselves carry those home with or without the reminder.

When I was still studying, I have a lot of books with me, like it was 10 books in different subject but I am not bringing it even though I am going home, except that I need those books for some homeworks. I usually leave it at my locker at school so I am able to move freely without a heavy baggage at my back. I would recommend to schools to have a locker rooms for their students and this could also help the students to prevent some physical problems when carrying some heavy baggage.

When I was in elementary level, I carry more than 7 books everyday. And I know how hard it is. So for me it is better to have a book shelf or locker for a students, for them to carry heavy books everyday. They can only carry what they need.

Heavy school bags: I also experienced carying a more than 7 book every in my grade school because our teacher always inspect it if we bring our books with us and check if it is well covered and no damage but luckily our home are just walking distance from our school like in front of the gate is already our house so it was not big deal for me to brung those heavy books every time I go to school. But, I want to suggest to every school to have a locker in school for every students where they can leave some of their stuffs that not needed in their studies in home and just only bring those needed one.

When I was in school, I remember it was not easy to carry the heavy school bag.Even nowadays I see children carrying heavy school bags to the school and back home after classes.I think that this is a problem which should concern the educational institutions, and they should come up with a solution to it.In today's world I think it is easier to make some changes about it, taking into consideration that the technology has evolved very much. There could be an option, like introducing e-books in schools or to change the schedule in schools by reducing the daily 6-7 subjects to 3-4 subjects, and each one of them should last 2 hours, in a day. This way it would be much easier the life of the children and could bring a benefit to their health as well.

I could relate this situation during my younger days in school which I used to carry big bags. It was full of books and notebook on daily basis. I keep telling my mom I won't bring books because it's heavy. I am always scolded by my teacher because of my laziness to carry books. I always have this thinking that why should we carry books when teachers are there to discuss. Besides, it is always possible to share books with classmates. I don't enjoy books before because they are rotten and damage.

Back in my day, we had to endure carrying 8 books every day at school. Given that I was a very skinny lad, it was a great predicament for me. It's a great idea to use softcopy versions so that the students will not be burdened by the need to carry heavy books to school.

Students should have a designated locker room so that they dont need to bring all their books going home. A locker room would be a big help for them so to ease carrying heavy bag. I think every student should have a mandatory locker room.

Students should not be burdened by carrying heavy books and heavy school bags. Their bodies are not that developed yet and it's a great strain for them if they already expend their energy on carrying their heavy stuff. I think it's best that teachers utilize technology and succumb to the use of softcopies.

Carrying heavy things is not good for a young child's body. I remember carrying a backpack on a daily basis, with seven different notebooks, and almost as many books. I also had another hand-held bag just for my papers and the books that couldn't fit into my backpack anymore. I was fortunate enough to have escaped immediate negative effects, but I do remember having friends who ended up getting scoliosis in their late twenties.

If at all possible, softcopies are a better alternative for children, loadwise.

Maybe they were just used to it, but it's good that schools adapts to new technologies, today it is so much easier, if you have a smartphone then you're probably good to go without books, I mean e-books exist right now and it's way more simple and portable because you just read it through your phone.

Children age from 4 to 11 should be refrained from carrying heavy school bags daily from their respective house to school. Just imagine the distance they have to walk and have those backpacks filled with books behind their backs. I agree that lockers should be made available especially to these kids so as to not to burden themselves so much and let them enjoy school. They are lucky now a days that they have these lockers. In my time, I have to carry a minimum of 6 books daily for school.

Yes, I agree with this. A tablet or smartphone can have all the books and information a child needs, as well as other interactive activities, learning apps, puzzles... Imagine carrying all that in a backpack for a 4-year-old. Completely unnecessary.

This is a difficult situation. While a tablet or e-reader would definitely be easier to carry, it's also important to note the negative consequences of exposing kids to too much screen time. What my school did before was to provide lockers where students can store their books so they won't have to bring them to school every time.

In my school days I used to carry heavy text books on a daily basis from carrying it to school to bringing to home vice versa . I really recommend that the school should provide a locker for the students or a book shelf so that they don't have to carry their books in their bag all day long because it is unhealthy for the students to carry it all day. I would also recommend bringing their book when there's an upcoming test or homework.

Yeah. Kids shouldn't carry heavy school bags. I I used to carry a heavy one up to college. Guess what I am suffering with scoliosis. That's why I always walk my kids to school and hand carry the bags for them. If they have to carry it it will just be for a short period of time.

For me, this should be avoided. Bringing heavy backpacks can cause a lot of negative effects to the young students, such as poor posture, and even chronic back problems in other extreme cases. Some experts recommended investing in relatively light backpacks, which place the weight on the shoulders, and with adjustable straps to prevent heavy loads from moving or being slung lower down the back.

WhenI was a child, I told mom why my bag is so big which much bigger than every day I always lift it and affect my posture which my back, I think we should recommend locker in every public and high school which help every student in their belongings like books and so many projects we should know that carrying a heavy bag doesn't give knowledge in a child we should remark that school policies.
