Has anyone enjoyed reading classic literature?

I am a huge fan of classic literature, regardless of who writes the book. I like to give myself sometime to just sit down and read one of my favorite classic novels, which is the "Wuthering Heights" written by Emily Bronte. I like the story itself, kind of dark, but also very mysterious and romantic in the way that people don't see what and how it happens. I like each of the characters, which are well-developed and well-portrayed. It's the one piece of literature that I really enjoy reading for my English assignment in high school! Has anyone enjoyed reading classic literature? What's your favorite piece of literature?

I used to enjoy it a lot when I was younger and I think I've read a significant amount of them. However, these days, the bestsellers are also kind of irresistible, so I try to balance my time between both. I am an addict of reading.

Yes, I do enjoy reading class Literature although I have found most of them are very hard to understand. I remember I have read more than 10 classic novels from middle to high school because I really enjoy this kind of literature, plus the writing is different in a way that I don't usually understand like books from nowadays. I would read some of classic literature again if I have a chance.

I used to love them when I was younger! But as I grow older I started taking more interest in documentaries and autobiographies by real life figures.

Yes yes yes! I used to read it all the time but not so often anymore these days. A couple of my favourites are To Kill A Mockingbird, Animal Farm, Lord Of The Flies, Of Mice and Men, Oliver Twist, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Macbeth.

I really enjoyed my literature class because of all the books we were required to read. My favorites we To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, and Julius Caesar.

My friends thought it was weird to have your assignment as a favorite book, but I loved that my homework was to read these books. Reading them brought me through a whole new experience of classic literature. I gained a whole new respect for it and now Literature is one of my greatest joys.

I enjoy reading some classic literature . The problem is I can only read so much of it at a time, because much of it is very sad . So many classical novels are written about sorrow and difficult times in someone's life. If you read too much at a time you may find it depressing. I wish more classic literature was upbeat and happy.

I do enjoy some, but to be honest, not all of the classics are really that good. Several of them are just all about love and how the man keeps on chasing the woman. I think it should not be automatic for people to think that just because it's a classic, it should already be good. Not all classics are as good as some of the bestsellers that we have right now.

I remember enjoying such classic literature when I was in college. We have a Literature subject before and it was an interesting class. I am interested more in Greek Mythology, Shakespeare works and Folklore of various countries.

Yes, I do love reading classic literature. However, I am not really a fan of Shakespeare's works. They are just way too complicated for me to understand. I prefer reading classic novels such as Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

Being a student of literature it basically means I have to read it but also I got here because I liked in first place. I really enjoy classical literature and not only English but Russian as well. If not more. Also in my country we have some greats of literature like Ivo Andric who actually won a Nobel Prize for his work. I do not have favourites but I can say I like Dosoevsky, Pushkin, Cervantes, Daniel Defoe, Honore De Balzac, Francois Sagan, Dickens and many more of course.

I have read a few classic literature books before like Little Women, Gulliver's Travels, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. But to be honest, they're not my cup of tea. I have to drag myself to finish the book even when it just bored me. I guess I just don't have the patience and the deepness to understand such books.

It depends on the book, honestly. I did greatly enjoy a few classics like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and more recent classics like Lord of the Flies by William Golding. But there are classic authors whose works I've never enjoyed like, sadly, Jane Austen.

I was never really into classic literature, I'd like to read some older books, but I was forced to do this in my old English class, and it was super boring. I just want to know that I'm reading something interesting. So if I was able to sample the book like how I can with Kindle books, then I might be more inclined to read some.

I do not really consider myself the kind of person who likes and enjoys reading classic stuff that much, I am basically not the guy you will call if you want to read something like that, most of the information I know have been gotten from other sources, such as gaming, another kind of reading and some other things I've been doing throughout my life, despite that, I really would not enjoy that kind of readings whatsoever.

Classic literature was part of my school curriculum. I was fortunate in having teachers who were enthusiastic about their subject. So I had a lot of fun reading Shakespeare. We did only a few of his plays in school. However, I read through the entire collection of Shakespeare plays and poems by myself.

I haven't re-read Shakespeare for a long time. However, his words and phrases have become part of my vocabulary. I don't seem to see children reading Shakespeare nowadays. Is it still a subject in schools?

I find reading mythology very interesting. It tells so much about the place where it came from and its people. Illiad and Odessey is a particular favorite. I also read shakespeare and Dante Alighieri. I easily forget some of the stories I read so i re-read them from time to time.

I'm not a sucker for classical piece when it comes to reading. There are few books I enjoy like the works of Oscar Wilde and Jane Austen and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. While it's difficult to dissect and understand, classical pieces are worth the read once you get into it.

I did not enjoy reading classical literature. I was basically forced to read it in high school and at college. Frankly, I hate classic literature and I think that it is extremely overrated! Of course, anyone can disagree, just my personal opinion. I do not like Shakespeare!

I love classics! But I also understand that not everyone enjoys them. While some are quite easy to understand, others have a dull and repetitive narration.

I think the key to understanding a classic book and eventually enjoying it is learning more about its author. For example, I'm currently reading "The Professor" by Charlotte Bronte, which is quite boring and the writing isn't that good. Before that, I read Charlotte Bronte's biography, which shed light on how and when she wrote "The Professor," the circumstances that made her choose this particular topic, and how much she liked the book. All these details brought value to "The Professor" and I'm very happy I picked it up!
