Graded recitation

One of the feared exams by students is the graded recitation. Instead of giving a written test the teacher would ask the students one by one with a question that needs a longer explanation. This is a method to evaluate the knowledge of the student in one topic of the subject. That is the reason why some teachers are against the graded recitation because what if the question assigned to the student was not clear or the student failed to review on that? For me the graded recitation is the best gauge for the knowledge of the student on the lessons.

I guess graded recitation is a good method to see whether a child understand and learn. His ability to response question regardless if it's easy or difficult is proven because he knows and understand the lesson well. This also gives a good impact one's self that we get to answer question without other's help and pass it confidently. I am not against graded recitation and I like it better.

It is good yo have a graded recitation, to know if the students listens carefully about the discussions. I am once a student and my teacher do that often also.

Graded recitation exams is indeed the most feared exam by students. Since that when they speak up to the teacher the students may get nervous e and may not answer the question properly compared when they have a written exams. It may depend to what the students are learning if its really necessary to have a graded recitation like a oral communication subject.

Graded recitation does not only help the students to review their lessons but also develop their self-confidence and public speaking. It is a great development for the students learning. To be able to speak in public and share his ideas with confidence.

We should also take into consideration that there are individuals who don't do well with public speaking and those with social anxiety. This is going to be rather tough on them and honestly very disappointing. If they knew the answer and they have the words in their mind but couldn't say it out loud then that's a real problem for them. And as you mentioned, misunderstanding the question and even failing to voice out the proper answer is another downside to this.

Graded recitation make our grade higher also it can help if your prelim grade was failed which in order to pass is to have a graded recitation I have a suggestion for teachers always give us chance on every quiz that we didn't take because of some circumstances last is giving us fewer projects because it's so hard to do it when it's so many ahaahahahthanks.

I understand the tough part for students to undergo a recitation. I was one those shy students who avoid reciting even if I knew the answer to the teacher's question. However the graded recitation is one means of forcing us to recite and eventually we would overcome the fear of speaking in public. I have experienced that so I know what I am saying that it is so hard at first and hard at the second but easier on the third time that you recite. It's just a matter of getting used to the recitation.
