Earning Through Writing

Are you a writer and are you earning from it already?
There are several ways to earn through writing like blogging, writing contents for websites and selling your articles. Making an e-book or an actual book could also give income.

I would love to earn from writing. but somehow it has completely eluded me. I wanted to start a blog but I don't know how. I do plan on joining contests though. Hopefully that would help me financially as well as uplift my notoriety a bit. I do have 2 former student who are now full time fiction writers here in the Philippines. I am very proud of them and I wish them more success.

There are numerous blogging tutorials available for free. You can also find free eBooks on blogging. Some of them are garbage, but some are really helpful. The best one I have run across is "How to Start a Successful Blog in One Hour" by Steve Scott. It was a free ebook on Amazon. Not sure if it is free now, but you could check. The title is cheesy and sounds spammy but it's a really good book that walks you through setting up a blog.

I earn from writing, but thus far it is relatively small. At first the company I used paid me outright for my short stories and then put them into e-book form. Then, they changed their policies and now give a credit for smaller writing so that you can purchase their package that allows you to publish a novel which is then available in printed and e-book form. At first we shared royalties and now the policy is that once I pay I get 100% royalties. They are considered a Botique Publishing agency and I am considered and Indie Author. I have posted a thread about this as I am still in the process of deciding if it would be worth it to stick with it as opposed to trying to get my work published by a larger press. However, that being said, the average author who gets their work published by one of the big names, ends up 'investing' roughly 4,000 dollars into their work! (According to my research). For most of us, this is more than a writer can afford. Thus, the new trend to self-publish. However, the self-published books are often not as edited and do not have the reviews that bookstores and libraries are looking for.

I have done freelance article writing for quite some time now and I must admit that aside from earning a bit of money from it, it was a good way to further hone my writing skills as well. I used to be the type who would spend a day finishing a one-page article. However, when I started doing online writing, I can churn out a 500-word article in about 15 minutes. It has trained me to be able to articulate my thoughts quick enough on paper.

My next goal is to be able to create an ebook and get it published. I've been starting to read on how to be able to do this.

I am currently working as a freelance writer, and as of the moment, this is my only source of income. I love what I am doing though. It may not be that profitable, but this is my true passion, so I am going to stick to it. I am actually planning to write a novel someday, and be a published author. I hope this would all come true.

I am currently doing small online assignments online. It isn't much money, of course, but it's a start, and every penny helps these days. I am in the process of writing an ebook. I'll see how that goes.

I have never got payed for writing but that is my main goal in life, actually. I do have a BA degree since years now and my only dream is putting that in use, because I really liked my subject and can't wait to earn some money for something I actually enjoy doing.

I have written for one content mill site. The job is not as rewarding as I thought it would be. I spend at least three hours on one project and I'd mostly get rejected. And that's even if I put my best effort in the article. So in my mind, content mill sites should be a last resort.

I have a blog but I haven't monetised it yet. I like writing in it though because it is my creative outlet. I am building up articles before I try to promote and monetise it though.

I have written on Hubpages on medical issues but ended up not earning due to problems with being in the beta stage. I therefore couldn't monetize it since I couldn't sign up for Google adsense. Online writing requires alot of hard work and a blog can even take six months to monetize. Excellent sites I have come across include Wealthy Affiliate, iWriter and Essay writers. net.

I wanted to earn through writing. One of the reason why I am here is because of that - any free time can be made profitable. However, the freelancing world as I experience it is not a profitable one. Unless, you get into the big publishing company and published your works.
