Did you ever have a child that skipped school?

I was bullied a lot in middle school, so I skipped school to avoid harassment. If I had been popular I think I would have liked school, and never would have skipped. My oldest daughter was an "A" student, and well-liked. She rarely missed school. My son is in 3rd grade, and has some problems making friends. He isn't really old enough to skip school yet, but he does try to get out of it sometimes, by feigning being sick. Have you had any issues getting your kids to go to school? Why?

When I taught first grade, I was still under the idea that kindergarten was mandated by the state, or that it was compulsory. I have discovered a few of the smartest children were never in kindergarten. However those few children had grandparents who were retired teachers or teacher's aids. On the other had a few of the children with the most challenges had never gone to kindergarten. Those academic challenges follow then on to middle school. I'm not certain it was lack of kindergarten but rather than a whole bunch of other social ills suffered by that child's whoel family.

I don't think i have encountered that problem as yet as it's still early days however i realized my son think he is a crafty one and so whenever he has an assignment or project that isn't fully completed he'll say he feels like his asthma is acting up and when he is given the opportunity to stay at home for the day in little or no time he is well enough to surf the net however now that i've catch up to what he was doing his asthma attacks have seems to have lessen.
