Cannibalism is still taboo in western culture. I think there are many unconscious ties that bind our community with practices like that. I don't know if it's a matter instinctive, cultural, religious or simply a psychological peculiarity, but I'm sure that every day we crossed the street to people with an appetite for human flesh. Perhaps the discussion focuses on the way in which you get the raw material that goes beyond the limits of this question. Speaking of taste, I think that's a very personal feeling involved in various environmental and organic factors. Anyway, I haven't desire to try ...

In the past a high demand for human flesh as food could only be supported by constant warfare. Prisoners of war almost always ended up in the cooking pots of "savage" warriors. A distinction, however, must be maintained between cannibalism in magical-religious ritual and its practice in ordinary table life, though in reality both practices conveniently co-exist in primitive cultures. Why is the cannibalistic taste almost universal in primitive human societies?

Because it wasn't taboo to them, like it is now in today's society. If you want to be a cannibal, hey, I'm all for it, just don't kill me or anyone else just to eat us. Personally, I don't like the thought of someone eating me after I've died, so I'll probably end up getting cremated just to prevent that from happening (well, that's not the only reason). People who practice cannibalism today are certainly interesting; I wonder how they developed a taste for flesh in the first place.

Although I find this topic fascinating, I do not think I could psychologically handle eating human flesh. However, who knows, maybe in a life or death situation I would surprise myself.

Well, yuck. Lol. I can see that it's important to some cultures and such...and to each their own as long as they aren't harming people to do so. In fact, many of them believing they are aiding the dead in this way. I remember the first time I really read anything about beliefs that consider that important was actually in a fictional novel by Anne Rice. It is interesting that it seems so universal.

Wow, The human species will do almost anything for the sake of gain. In this case, gaining the knowledge, strength, etc. of someone. Interesting topic. for myself, I see it in the concept of 'gain'. What I can get out of the deal, like most humans do. They are eating people to gain something from that person. Heck, looking back at math class I'm sure glad we just got to ask questions and be taught to get knowledge, because I don't think my professors would not be too tasty.
