All Ages Advancement Of Computer Technology

How significant has the advancement of computer technology been in the past 15 years and what strides do you think have been made?

I think the advancement of computer technology in the past 15 years has been almost indescribable. 15 years ago was 1999. The difference between the best computer technology of 1999 and the best computer technology of 2014 is a mind blowing comparison. Y2K threatened computers everywhere back in 1999 and we have drones in 2014. I don't even know where to begin charting the advancements.

15 years ago we were still using floppy disk for storing information. A standard floppy disk is able to carry around 1 megabytes of information......which is actually considered a great breakthrough back then. Fast forward to the present, hard drives has replaced floppy disk with their ability to store up to 1000 Gigabytes of data, which is a whole lot more than what a floppy disk is able to store.

The advancement of computer technology is scary. Think of it. What is a want today will be a need tomorrow.

This pretty much means that technology is now becoming a necessity. The computer today is our way of communicating with people through technology, and it's necessary for us to communicate with one another.

Technology is changing pretty quick and we just need to get used to the fact that technology will be 10x even more advanced in 5 years than it is today.

One more thing that I just thought of. Booking or reservations has become a whole lot easier with internet. You can check, edit, and pay for tickets that you have booked online now, which is a huge improvement compared to decades ago. Back then, we can't even verify or confirm that we are the one who booked for a reservation and people can easily pretend to be you and get away with it. Now, confirmation of identity is much stricter but can still be done in a convenient way.

The fact that technology has improved greatly in the last 15 years makes it possible for technology to improve even faster in the next 3 years. An improvement in technology speeds up practically everything in this world. All aspects are being quicker, more efficient, and more measurable.

Things are simply becoming easier. The only problem is that it might result to laziness and higher exposure to radiatiom.

The advancements in computer technology, and technology in general, has been explosive. Having all of this technology has given us the opportunity to put knowledge at the fingertips of our children, which is incredible, but has it made them lazier? There has been an increase in the demand for instant gratification from our children...who have never had to look anything up in an encyclopedia, wait for someone to send us a letter, or even have to scour the local stores to find what they want. Today, it's just point and click. And while this is great...very powerful technology...it has also bred problems like cyberbullying and an overreliance on technological solutions to every day problems. Our kids don't have problem solving skills any more.

No one could've predict how far we've come with our advancements in technology. We were amazed when we saw the first functional computer, we're even in awe with floppy disk back then. I remember when I was a kid I saw my dad had a pen-drive with a 512Mb capacity, and I genuinely thought that was amazing. I thought 512 Mb was huge enough to store files. Fast forward 10 years later, even a 1Tb external hard disk was not enough for me. It's exciting and at the same time somewhat scary to think of what the future has in store for us in terms of technology advancements.

The advances in computet technology in the past 15 years are nothing short of phenomenal. Previously huge and bulky pieces have been replaced with sleek touchscreen laptops and tablets not to mention state of the art iPads and iPhones. Miniaturization is the future. Perhaps the greatest strides have occurred in the area of robotics and automation with a myriad of applications in industry, aeronautics and defence. The internet has undergone a sea change and the average man on the street is at par with an American president in the 1990s. The quality of life has improved with the development of many applications including Skype, Facebook and many others.

Well 15 years ago most computers were bulky and you would need a desk to operate them, now days a computer that can do much more can fit in your pocket. Nearly everyone walks around with one. The modest looking smartphone has more processing power then 20 computers from 15 years back. I can't imagine what it will be like 15 years from now.

Personally the biggest achievement of computer technology has been that it has penetrated each and every industry and each and every aspect of our lives.

While it can be considered as a great property but also sometimes, it seems like we are too dependent on these as well and what would happen in case we face some problems like EDM pulse etc which can make them go haywire.

Technology as advanced in recent years more than any other sector in my opinion, and I think that's only going to be set to continue. 20 years ago there was no way that we would have been able to see just how far technology would have come, and in 20 years time from now, we're look back on these days and think the same.

There's no doubt that technology is taking over more and more parts of our lives these days, and no matter what people think about that, I no think we've gone too far to be able to change it. Imagine not being able to use the internet now for example to find information out, and have to rely on encyclopedia's. It's just not going to work anymore is it?
