A thread about the creative process of worldbuilding.

I'm with you there. Clear Sky. I prefer to write non-fiction anyway, but some people draw up rules and forms for that as well. I like to allow my writing to flow, and then organise it so that it reads more professionally. If I'm trying to work to some sort of 'writing recipe,' I'm invariably unhappy with the result.Well you care to elaborate? Do you have any experience with it? Frankly I gave up writing a long time ago cause I could never really get the hang of it. Are you supposed to outline every general thought of each Chapter? How do you fit in creative processes like Worldbuilding and Plot Devices if you are just free writing you know? Like sometimes I would just go to my laptop open up my word editor and just start typing. I don't want to have to subscribe to any ridgid rule or form. I just want to write.
Worldbuilding seems that it would require a lot of patience. This is something I need to work on so perhaps I should put my hand to this. I have been watching Game of Thrones with my husband recently and really want to read the books now. I love how the world the story is set in is all constructed from bits and pieces of history and myth. I want to compare the description of the world in the books to the interpretation HBO brought to the story.
