Esteem issues

Teachers and education providers need to identify methods and strategies of building the self esteem of learners in the special education department. These students may have perfectly developed cognitive faculties but being impaired can result in negative self assessment which affects learning. For example, they should be introduced to role models who have overcome similar challenges to make it in life.

Well the good thing about students with special needs, take for instance those with autism, is that they're rarely self-conscious. They are rarely aware of their own condition so self-esteem issues, in many cases, don't really hit home. It also depends on the school, the values it has imparted on the students and the activities they're made to undertake. Once these students regain their sense of self, that's when the esteem issues start to come in. For the most part, though, they're hardly self-conscious and are just happy-go-lucky.
